At this time through our Santa Monica, California office, both virtual and in person (2022), we do not participate with any insurance plans. In our New York office, insurances accepted: Cigna, The Empire Plan (NY only). We intend to stay in the network for NY insurance plans that cover virtual nutrition sessions. Until then, our practice accepts payment out of pocket only. We do accept Health Savings Account (HSA) credit card.
This is different for every client as everyone’s needs are unique. Usually our packages include 2 sessions per month. one session every two weeks is common to give you time to experience changes independently but not too much time so you can keep up with accountability!
According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Commision on Dietetic Registration, “Every Registered Dietitian is a Nutritionist, but not every Nutritionist is a Registered Dietitian ”.
Registered Dietitians are required to have met certain educational and professional requirements, including a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with coursework in nutrition science, 1200 hours of supervised practice through an accredited dietetic internship program, and must pass a vigorous national registration exam.
In March, 2013, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and CDR approved the optional use of the credential RDN, which stands for Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. It communicates that RDs are qualified to treat medical conditions through Medical Nutrition Therapy as well as provide nutritional counseling focused on wellness and prevention!
